Annotation tools and what they are used for
The PDF editor provides five main annotation tools. The Text tool lets you click anywhere on the page and type — useful for filling in blank form fields or adding comments in a visible location. The Draw tool allows freehand strokes for signatures, handwritten notes, or circling important sections. The Highlight tool draws a semi-transparent yellow box to mark important passages. The Rectangle tool draws an outlined box — useful for visually framing areas to draw attention to. These tools cover the vast majority of everyday PDF annotation needs without requiring any software beyond a web browser.
How to sign a PDF
To add a signature to a PDF, select the Draw tool and write your signature with your mouse or trackpad on the relevant signature line. Take your time — mouse signatures can look rough, but you can undo and redraw as many times as needed until it looks right. Once you are satisfied, switch to a different tool so the signature is "committed" to the page. For tablet users, the drawing tool works with a stylus for a more natural signature. When you download the PDF, your signature is permanently embedded and will appear in all PDF viewers.
Managing annotations
You can undo the last annotation at any time using the undo button. To remove a specific annotation, click on it to select it, then press Delete or use the remove option. If you make a mistake while drawing, undo immediately before adding more annotations — undo removes annotations one at a time in reverse order. When you are done making changes, click Download to save the annotated PDF. The downloaded file includes all your edits and can be shared, printed, or uploaded just like any other PDF.
