When PNG is the right choice over JPG
Choose PNG when your PDF contains text, line art, diagrams, logos, or sharp-edged graphics — any content where quality degradation would be noticeable. PNG's lossless compression means there are no JPEG artefacts around text edges or fine lines. This matters most when you are using the converted images for further design work in tools like Photoshop, Canva, or Illustrator, or when embedding document pages into a presentation or publication where readers will view the content at large sizes. For PDFs with full-colour photographs and no text, JPG is usually fine and produces smaller files.
Working with PNG files in design tools
